Welcome to the virtual Bass Synth Plug-In VB-1 by Steinberg
***********************************************************

VB-1 is freeware. That means you are allowed to use and to pass it on. Please note that we are not able offer technical support, and because it's freeware, we cannot take any responsibility for any defects or side-effects caused by this software. You have agreed to these conditions by clicking the download links or copying this software to your hard drive or other medium.

--------------
Installation -
--------------
1. If Cubase is running, close the program.
2. Drop the 'VB-1.dll' file into the valid 'VSTPlugIns' directory on your hard drive.
3. Start Cubase.

Now you should be able to load the VB-1 into the VST-Instrument rack. As a virtuel Instrument it behaves similar to the included Neon Synth. Please see the Cubase manual for more information.

NOTE: In order to use the VB-1, Cubase VST version 3.7 or higher or compatible host software is required. In case you are working with a another host software the handling might differ. Please see the dedicated manual for how to use virtual instruments. Thought it will run on a Pentium with 200 MHz we recommend at least a Pentium II with 64 MB RAM and 266 MHz processor speed.

Description -
-------------
VB-1 is a virtual bass instrument built on realtime physical modelling principles. This has the following properties:

* VB-1 is polyphonic with up to 4 voices.
* VB-1 receives MIDI In Omni mode (on all MIDI channels). You don't need to select a MIDI channel to direct MIDI to the VB-1.
* VB-1 responds to the following MIDI messages:

-MIDI Note On/Off (velocity governs volume).
 -Volume.
-Pan (remember to pan the two Instrument channels hard Left/Right if you want to use MIDI
  Pan messages).

Furthermore, all parameters can be automated as described above.

VB-1 Parameters -
-----------------

Parameter Description
___________________________________________________________________________________________

Volume knob This regulates the VB-1 volume.

Damper This switch controls the length of time the string vibrates
 				after being plucked.

Pick-up position By dragging the "mic" left or right you can change the tone.
Positioning it towards the bridge position produces a hollow
sound that emphasises the upper harmonics of the plucked
string. When placed towards the neck position, the
				tone is fuller and warmer.

Pick position This determines where along the length of the string the
initial pluck is made. This controls the "roundness" of the
tone, just like on a real guitar.

Wave Morph knob This knob selects the basic waveform that is used to drive
the plucked string model. This parameter can drastically
change the sound character. The control smoothly morphs
through the waves. It is possible to create sounds that have
no relation to a bass guitar with this control.

In addition you will find a 'VB-1 default sets.fxb' file which holds some presets in this bank. You can easily load it via the 'Load bank'- command in the VST Instrument rack.
